Sri Sri Sri Swami Vittalananda Saraswathi Maharaj (Vittal Babaji) hails from the Datta Lineage and is fondly known as Thathagaru by his beloved devotees.
Thatagaru has ashrams at Sri Kshetra Vallabhapuram, Mahbubnagar district, Doobucherla (East Godavari District), and Jairam Nagar at Medchal, Hyderabad.
He fondly tells his devotees who address him as Thatagaru that we belong to the Thatagaru Sampradayam meaning that our guru is our dear grandfather Sri Vittal Babaji. It is worthwhile experiencing his love emanated by this gentle grandfather.
Tatagaru has written several books. Notable among them are Sree Akkalkot Swamy Samarth Charithamrutham, Datta Chaleesa Vaibhavam and Mudra Vaidyam. He also started the publication of Guru Charanam a monthly magazine.
Thatagaru set up ashrams at Sri Kshetra Vallabhapuram(Mahbubnagar district), Dubucherla (East Godavari District), and Jairam Nagar (Medchal, Hyderabad) which have facilities for a Library, Veda patashala, Pithru Karyam, Yoga Centers. He also plans to set up facilities to care for orphans, destitute and the elderly.
From 1993 to 1999 he had weekly community collective readings of Sri Guru Charithra and Sri Sai Satcharithra at his ashram. Thatagaru has successfully conducted 104 Geeta Gyana Yagnams and is planning to perform another four in December 2008, marking the 108 yagnams.
Much information about Thatagarus background was published in one of the issues of the Gurucharnam magazine in the year 2001. It is humanly impossible for mere mortals to fathom the depths and vastness of Thatagaru. Thathagaru now resides mostly at his ashram in Vallabhapuram and frequently travels across India to meet his beloved disciples.
